Participants, ages 12 and up, will be challenged on this off road 5K race featuring aggressive terrain and “Goliath Sized” obstacles. Racers will start in multiple waves throughout the day beginning at 8:00 am with prizes for the top men and women finishers. All registrants participating in the race will receive a shirt and goodie bag for taking on Goliath. We recommend arriving 1 hour before your wave to retrieve your race packet. The race will be held rain or shine. Water will be available at two locations along the course. Get ready to conquer Goliath!
2.5 K Race
Kids, ages 8-13, take on a shorter version of the Goliath Challenge. The race is 2.5K in length including “Goliath Size” obstacles throughout the course. Parents are not allowed on the race course during the race. All kids participating in the race will receive a shirt and award for taking on Goliath. Kids will need parental consent including a signed waiver.
Chip Timing will be used for the Goliath Challenge. When participants pass the start and finish, the time is automatically recorded.
The Goliath Challenge is an off-road 5K and 2.5K race featuring aggressive terrain along with natural and constructed obstacles. The race will take place in a rural setting at the Badlands Snow Park in Hudson, WI on May 31st, 2014 as a morning to early afternoon event with multiple waves of runners.
The Goliath Challenge ultimately sets the stage for a fun day of fellowship and fitness. The underlying theme for the event is face your “Goliath” challenges that are undoubtedly a part of your everyday life.
The main objective of the race is to raise money for a charity that battles the “Goliath” challenge of world hunger. Funds will be raised for Feed My Starving Children through participant registration fees, sponsors, and corporate contributions. To battle hunger locally, race participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to the race with will be donated to the Hudson Food Shelf.

Feed My Starving Children is a Christian nonprofit hunger relief organization. Children in nearly 70 countries receive FMSC food. Organizations partner with FMSC and distribute food to children in various community settings: orphanages, schools, clinics, refugee camps, nutrition programs, and more.

Trinity Lutheran Church (TLC) of Hudson, WI is the sponsoring and coordinating entity for the event. TLC is a Missouri Synod affiliate congregation of 1,800 with two church campuses located within the Hudson community.
From Saint Paul, MN – Take I-94 East to Wisconsin. Take Exit 4 for US-12. Turn left onto US-12 heading north for 1.1 miles. Turn right onto Badlands Road heading east for 1.6 miles. Turn right onto Kinney Road heading south. Parking entrance located off of Kinney Road on the right.
From Eau Claire, WI -Take I-94 West toward Minnesota. Take Exit 10 for WI-65. Turn right onto WI-65 heading north for 1.2 miles. Turn left onto 80th Avenue/Badlands Road heading west for 4.5 miles. Turn left onto Kinney Road heading south. Parking entrance located off of Kinney Road on the right.
Parking will open at 6:45 am on the day of the event. Parking is free but limited. We recommend carpooling when possible. The parking entrance is located directly off of Kinney Road. No parking will be allowed on public roads for the event. Parking will be within an existing field therefore expect uneven ground and longer grass.
Only registered race participants allowed on the race course
All racers must display an official bib to be allowed to race
All racers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parents/guardian. No exceptions.
No dogs or animals other than service animals allowed. For the safety of your pets, please leave them at home.
Parents/guardians are responsible for their children at all times. No children, unless participating in the kid’s race, are allowed on the race course at any time.
The event organizers reserve the right to cancel or delay in the event of severe weather.
No alcoholic beverages permitted.
No spiked or cleated shoes will be allowed.
Race packets will be available at the Badlands Sno-Park Chalet on Friday May 30th between 5:00 and 7:00 pm and on Race Day May 31st beginning at 6:45 am. You must have a photo ID to get your packet. Race packets cannot be mailed. Race packets will include your t-shirt, race bib, race chip, and goodies from our event supporters. Safety pins to secure your race bib will be available. Don’t try to be David…avoid the temptation to use the race bag as a “sling”.
What should I bring race day?
Your photo ID, money for food and beverages, and an attitude like David’s to take on Goliath.
What age divisions are there?
The adult divisions for men and women are: 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Kids race is one division ages 8 – 13.
What should I wear?
Appropriate/modest exercise clothing and good running shoes. Warning: you will get wet on this course. No inappropriate or offensive shirts/clothing allowed otherwise you will be “Thrown in the Lion’s Den”. Remember, this is a family event.
What if I can’t run a 5K, 2.5K or complete every obstacle, can I still participate?
Absolutely! Athletes (or not) of all abilities are invited to race even if that means you have to walk some of the course. If you are not able or are afraid to complete an obstacle, you can run around it. Just don’t flee…Goliath is like a dog…and likes to chase!
